Edwuar Jose Hernandez Herrera
Coming to the US
Edwuar Jose Hernandez came to the US from Venezuela in 2023 with 13 other men including three friends from his neighborhod (Mervin Jose Yamarte Fernandez, Andy Javier Perozo, and Ringi Rincon). They crossed into the US over the Rio Grande and turned themselves into Border Patrol agents who detained and then released them. They shared a townhome in Texas and worked in a tortilla factory.
Detention and disappearance
On March 13 ICE officers came totheir townhouse and arrested the three men. His friend, Mervin, contacted his mother on March 14 and told her that all four men had signed deportation papers and were looking forward to returning to their families in Venezuela. Instead their families found they had been disappeared to CECOT.
Yarelis Herrera, mother of Edwuar Jose Hernandez has joined other family members of the men in CECOT to demand their release in a letter sent to President Bukele.
