Lainerke Manzo Lovera

Coming to the US

Lainerke Daniel Manzo Lovera left Venezuela on December 18, 2023 making his way to Mexico through the Darien jungle. He worked in Mexico while waiting for his CPB1 processing appointment which was assigned for March 2024. He had been traveling with his wife and friends who did not have a CPB1 app appointment. Lainerke decided to turn himself in with them so they could all be together. The women were released but Lainerke was deported back to Mexico. His wife was pregnant at the time.

Once back in Mexico, Lainerke continued to work and reapplied for an immigration appointment through the CPB app which was granted on October 3, 2024. While in Mexico he got a tattoo of a clock on his arm, a gift from a roommate.

Detained and disappeared to CECOT

When Lainerke attended his appointment in San Diego, he was detained. The reason given was his previous deportation. Immigration requested additional documentation including a criminal record and birth certificate of his daughter who was born just days after his appointment on October 9, 2024. Lainerke was detained in Arizona for approximately 19 days before being transferred to Texas.

On March 14, Lainerke contacted his father to let him know he was being deported, possibly to Mexico or Venezuela according to immigration personnel. That was the last his family heard from him. Since then the family found his name on the list of men disappeared to CECOT.

Lainerke is one of 10 clients represented by RFK Human Rights. A delegation went to El Salvador in April to demand their release.
